That's me ... my name is Elyssa and I created this blog for our family and friends since a majority of them live out of state. We thought it would be a fun and easy way to keep the people we love up to date on the latest 'happenings' of our little family.
About Me
I am a natural light portrait & landscape photographer and a 'stay at home mom' to our two yellow labs and our two kittens. I continue to follow my love of photography and all things crafty and keep busy with photoshoots and projects. I have lived in Seattle since 2004 when I moved up here to finish college at University of Puget Sound and have been here ever since. I grew up in Southern California - Irvine to be exact - and spent my weekends playing in the mountains of Colorado. I've always felt that Seattle is my happy medium of my CA/CO roots. I've got the ocean, the mountains and am constantly inspired by the beauty all around me.
About the Freeman Family
Caleb and I met in 2000 (eek! has it really been that long?) while he was attending University of Southern California. We started dating in 2002 and the rest is history - hah! Just kidding. We dated for a while and then broke up - he was busy focusing on his Senior year and I was busy trying to figure out what my next steps were. About a month before his graduation we had met up to talk and learned that we were each headed up to the Seattle area that summer - crazy right?! He was moving up to help out his grandparents and start applying to local Fire Departments and I had been accepted to UPS and was starting in the fall. We started talking and dating again and on April 6, 2007 he proposed!! On December 9th, 2007 we were married at Willows Lodge in WA and it was beautiful.
Caleb is currently in his 6th year at the Redmond Fire Department and works on the ladder truck. He loves his job and why wouldn't he? He is living out most little boys childhood dreams and he gets to play with 'big boy' toys so he truly is very happy in his job. Oh, and I love his job too. Sure I think a guy in uniform is hot, thats a given, but what I also love is the firefighter family that we are now apart of which is great for us since both our parents live out of state - the support and friendships are a blessing.
Woodworking is Caleb's other passion, and let me tell you, he is talented! When Caleb is not at work he is busy mastering his craft and he recently started up a business - EFC Woodworking. He specializes in building custom furniture, custom decks, remodeling kitchens/custom cabinetry just to name a few. If you are interested in learning more about what he does you can dig around in the blog archives where you can see different projects he has worked on over the last year or you are welcome to contact us for more information.
Kids, well, we have 4 'kids' and I love them all to pieces. Our two cats (well, they are really more MY cats) are Cabernet and Merlot but we call them Fat Cat and Lolo. We rescued them from the Humane Society while I was still in College. (Below: Lolo on Left & Fat Cat on Right)
Our other two children are Miley and Koda, our almost 3 year old Yellow Lab puppies. They make each day worth living - I'm not kidding!! We just love them to pieces and I think the cats honestly like having them around. (Below Koda is on the Left & Miley is on the Right)
We have been so blessed with great friends and family and continue to enjoy life and grow together as a couple and a little family of 6.
